An eSIM is a SIM card built into your phone. Instead of a plastic card you get a QR code, and your phone downloads the plan in a few minutes.

Questions before you go.

When does Tokay launch?

Vietnam comes first. Everyone on the list gets one email with the launch date and the plans. We do not have a date to share yet.

Does my phone work with an eSIM?

Most phones from the last few years do, including iPhone XS and newer and recent Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy models. The phone must be unlocked. To check, look for "Add eSIM" in your phone's mobile or cellular settings.

Do I keep my own number?

Yes. Your home SIM stays in the phone. WhatsApp, Zalo, LINE and KakaoTalk keep your account and run over Tokay data. Calls and texts to your home number follow your home carrier's roaming rules.

What will it cost?

Prices come with the launch. Each plan will show its full price before you pay, with no subscription.

Why is it called Tokay?

The tokay gecko lives across South and Southeast Asia and is named after its call. In Vietnamese it is tắc kè, in Thai tukkae, in Indonesian tokek. Geckos stick to any surface, which is what a travel eSIM should do.

Who is responsible

What we keep
Your email address, the destination you picked, your browser language, the time you joined, the consent text you agreed to and a salted hash of your IP address, which we use to stop abuse.
Why
To email you when Tokay launches. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). We do not sell the list, share it for advertising or use it for anything else.
Where it goes
The list is stored on our own server in Singapore. For the launch email we pass your address to our email provider, Resend. Our team chat gets a note with the destination and the number of sign-ups, never your address.
How long
Until you ask us to remove it, and never longer than 24 months after you joined.
Your rights
You can see, correct or delete your data and withdraw consent at any time by writing to contact@vietsim.com. You can also complain to the Polish data protection authority (Prezes UODO, uodo.gov.pl) or the one where you live.
